Goat Cheese & Butter Boards

Course Side Dish

Notes

Butter boards are all the rage on Tik Tok, and I can see why. Butter is amazing. Giant swaths of butter with salt, herbs, and edible toppings all piled high onto a piece of rustic bread – YES. I am the person who puts about a tablespoon of butter on a saltine cracker and eats that for a snack, so this trend is all right with me.
Let’s talk about how you get started on your first butter board.
  1. Leave your butter out overnight to soften, and then refrigerate it for 30 minutes before board assembly. You want spreadable but firm butter.
  2. Grab your favorite wood board or platter and place a dab of honey in the center of the board. Now cut a smaller than the board piece of parchment paper and anchor it on the board. Now spread the butter onto the board.
  3. Top with your favorite toppings
  4. Consider both savory and sweet combinations.
  5. Cut up a French bread loaf for dipping or serve with crackers.
Great combinations for butter boards include:
  1. Figs, Honey, Almond slivers
  2. Chives, Chive Blossoms, Maldon Sea salt, and Edible Flowers
  3. Microgreens, Lemon zest, Capers
  4. Jam, Figs, Molasses, or Date Syrups
Now that you have the hang of a Butter board, how about going a step further with a Goat Cheeseboard
  1. Leave your goat cheese out to soften. You will need about 8 oz for a small board.
  2. Whip in a food processor with 1/4 cup plain yogurt – add more if you want a thinner consistency.
  3. Grab your favorite wood board or platter and place a dab of honey in the center of the board. Now cut a smaller than the board piece of parchment paper and anchor it on the board. Now spread the goat cheese mixture onto the board.
  4. Top with your favorite toppings
  5. Consider both savory and sweet combinations.
  6. Cut up a French bread loaf for dipping or serve with crackers or crostini
Great combinations for goat cheese boards include:
  1. Olives, Sundried Tomatoes, and Thyme
  2. Hot Honey, Almond Slivers
  3. Jams or Apple butter, Figs and Honey
  4. Fresh Herbs, Jalapeno Slivers or Pine Nuts
  5. Candied Walnuts, Orange Zest and Honey
Let’s Consider a whipped Feta or Hummus board
  1. Whip two blocks of Feta with the brine and 1/4 cup plain yogurt – add more if you want a thinner consistency.
  2. Grab your favorite wood board or platter and place a dab of honey in the center of the board. Now cut a smaller than the board piece of parchment paper and anchor it on the board. Now spread the feta cheese mixture onto the board.
  3. Top with your favorite toppings
  4. Feta begs for savory treatments.
  5. Cut up Pita triangles and French bread  or serve with crackers or crostini
Great combinations for Feta cheese boards include:
  1. Olives, Sundried Tomatoes, and Thyme
  2. Mint, Roasted Red Peppers, and Pine Nuts
  3. Lemon zest, Dill, Parsley, and Mint
  4. Orange Zest, Hot Honey, and Walnuts
